PLASTIBEC ENVIRONMENTALLY AWARE
For several years, Plastibec has taken environment issues very seriously and this results in tangible actions. These actions can be felt in production as well as in distribution.
To begin with, the raw materials we work with can be recycled and we make it a duty to re-use our materials as much as possible without compromising the integrity of our products. Three areas of our company are concretely implied in the recycling of raw materials:
- We use recycled materials from items in the composition of certain products such as the recycled valance.
- We buy unused material from our clients to re-use in our production.
- We produce our boxes with recycled material for the distribution of our finished goods: Plastibec’s Regrind Packaging Program, whereby scrap regrind material is used to produce packaging planks that substitute for more conventional wood materials, thereby reducing both the level of throwaway packaging material and the consumption of wood.
Our highly qualified employees work with high performance machines in production resulting in high efficiency and minimizing waste.
Water is used in the production process of certain products. Our highly technological machines allows the water used from a closed environment, called a loop: Plastibec’s Water Conservation Program consists of a significant investment in extruders’ cooling and recirculating water systems, whereby heated water is chilled and reused rather than released into the drainage system. It is estimated that Plastibec’s investment saves 50,000,000 gallons of drinking water annually
For customers, the products that we sell make it possible to save energy; whether on heating or air-conditioning. As a matter of fact, it was shown that using blinds allows houses to be more energy efficient: in summer time, blinds prevent the sun from heating the house and in winter, blinds reduce cold air infiltrations through windows.
Plastibec also want to reward customers who make environmental efforts and once a year, we award them a "green certificate" to emphasize their efforts, whether they are selling us PVC end cuts or buying the recycled valance.
Plastibec is committed in finding new processes that will help the industry in fighting growing pollution issues the world is facing today. We are constantly looking to encourage environmental actions in our working environment.
